Sofia Esteve

Alicante, 1993

Sofia Esteve is a film writer and director. She majored in Audiovisual Communication at Pompeu Fabra University. She is co-writer and co-director of the narrative short film PERPETUA FELICIDAD (Eternal Happiness, 2022), produced by Aquí y Allí Films, and was a candidate for the 38th Goya Awards.

She has recently co-directed the documentary short film GAPS (Els buits, 2024), produced by Nocturna Pictures and Vayolet Films, which is currently starting its journey through festivals. She is also working on LOS ANDARES, her next narrative short film, selected in the script labs Acció Curts (Dones Visuals), Queercinelab (Fundación Triángulo), and Semilleru Lab (Gijon International Film Festival), where it won the award for projects in development.

Previously, she co-directed the new TV format FOLLO ERGO SUM (2016-2018, betevé) and worked as assistant director on short films such as DETOX (David Moragas, 2020) and SOL CREIXENT (Guillem Manzanares, 2017). She has also worked as a casting assistant on LOS TORTUGA (Belén Funes, in production).

Sofia is co-creator of @la_calumnia, an independent research project on LGTBIQ+ genealogies in film, in which she teaches workshops and classes in different institutions, including the Spanish Cinemathèque and the Master's Degree in Gender and Communication at the UAB.
